  • Tulips, Tulips, Tulips

    From this….

    To this….

This year I wanted to try an experiment, I wanted to see if I could force tulips. Forcing tulips is a way to trick the tulip into blooming earlier. We have all seen forced tulips in grocery stores around Valentine’s Day or Easter.

So I wanted to try my luck. I planted lots of pots of Daffodils, Tulips and Crocus. Some of the pots have all three in them. This way, (if my experiment works) first the Crocus will bloom, then tulips and finally Daffodils. ALL FROM ONE POT !!!!!

So I planted them the first of December, put them in the garage for 10 weeks, then brought them in on the back porch. I watered them when I planted them, then about 3 weeks ago then again the day I brought them in.

Wish me luck, if this works, I will be selling them around Easter.

Here is the latest bouquet for my bouquet a week challenge. I took it a few days ago.
These are Paper Whites, a type of Daffodil. They stay fresh for about two weeks. They have been my favorite ‘Winter’ flower. I will have lots more of these next year.

  • Spring ????

Today is February 15th, we are past the half-way mark for February. Then comes March, April, May….

I can’t wait for the Spring and Summer months.

Below are pictures of my tulips just coming up. They are kind of small, you have to look close to see them.

Somehow, Mother Nature always tells the tulips to come up in February, I’ll bet they are kind of cold when they raise their little red heads.
