MY DAD’S BIRTHDAY
Posted on December 24th, 2010 1 commentToday is Christmas Eve, a day we prepare for tomorrow, to honor Christ by celebrating His birth. But it is also my Dad’s birthday. For my Dad’s birthday we would get together and have cake and ice cream. Kathy would bring him peanut clusters, he would enjoy them for weeks to come.
My Dad would tell us he was born in a manger, we always had a good laugh at that. It was a very, very cold winter the year he was born, his family lived in a very primitive house in the middle of a field. They made a bed for him next to his Mother and put plenty of firewood in the house. They moved his Mother’s bed near the stove so she could feed the fire easier.
From this picture, you can tell he loved what he did. He enjoyed farming and raising cows. I never heard him or my Mother complain that they were tired or bored, they just worked hard day in and day out. That was the way they were raised.

Jule asked me what Christmas traditions we had when I was a kid.. I couldn’t think of many, but one of my favorite Christmas traditions was making peanut clusters for Grandpa, and going over to their house for cake and ice cream. There is no better way to spend your time than with family.
